Welcome to this Room 11 blog. Our learning philosophy is to LEARN, CREATE an artifact that shows our learning, and then SHARE it in creative ways, including posting it here on this blog. The purpose of this blog is for students to become accustomed to sharing their learning, recieving feedback, and preparing them for having their very own blog. While students will make every effort to have work corrected and error free it is in fact authentic student work, showing where students are at, and so there are likely to be some mistakes. The aim is to note progress and improvement, and we expect to see this over time.

We are getting lots of school work  posted and enjoying the experience of playing with blogging..

Today we checked our user names on the class blog to make sure we were not posting private information.

Our class rules are to:

  1. Only post using our first name,
  2. No photos of ourselves in our profile - but we can put a photo like a favorite creature or a fancy motorbike or car.
  3. If we post photos of people related to our school work we only use first names in any captions or comments.
  4. No entries in the about us section of the profile for hobbies or clubs we belong to - that information is fine for family and friends but not for everyone in the world to know.
  5. No phone numbers or home addresses.
  6. If we get any unpleasant comments or posts that are disturbing we will talk an adult we trust.
We looked at the Facebook posting for one of our students and discussed the information was disclosed in the messages or shown in the photos.

We discussed how when we post or email something we have lost control of it - it becomes part of our digital footprint.

To have their own dedicated Blog page as part of the class blog children have to demonstrate that they can
  1. Follow the above protocols
  2. Make sensible and helpful comments and feedback to other students.
  3. Make regular posts of their own work, seeking to improve the standard of their work by using the feedback from others..
  4. Continue to give feedback to other Room 11 students.
  5. If we get any unpleasant comments or posts that are disturbing we will tell an adult we trust.

Should there be issues then the privileges of an individual blog will be revoked and children will have to post on the general class Blog again.
