This is an exciting blog from Room 11 children giving them the opportunity to learn, create and share their discoveries.
Welcome to this Room 11 blog. Our learning philosophy is to LEARN, CREATE an artifact that shows our learning, and then SHARE it in creative ways, including posting it here on this blog. The purpose of this blog is for students to become accustomed to sharing their learning, recieving feedback, and preparing them for having their very own blog. While students will make every effort to have work corrected and error free it is in fact authentic student work, showing where students are at, and so there are likely to be some mistakes. The aim is to note progress and improvement, and we expect to see this over time.

On a sunny but a bit chilly Tuesday morning on the 25th of June 134 year 5 and 6’s from waikanae school went orienteering for a hour at Waikanae Park.
They arrived by bus and were told what to do, they got into pairs and they got their starting times and off they went.
All 134 kids went round the park with a map in each hand stopping at the clippers to clip their sheet. They went up steep hills and muddy ditches to find the clippers. The clippers had different patterns on them so people could tell if someone was cheating. “ I think the day was fun and exciting” said Madeline Young, a year 5 from waikanae school.
The teachers at waikanae school thought that going orienteering would be fun and exciting for the kids as well as learning how to work with others.

Orienteering
on tuesday the 25th of june the year 5,6,7,8ts from a few schools of kapiti went to waikanae park to do some fun orienteering .there were 570 kids.
then they all started with a map and where set of at different times so they won't all go to the same clicker.they all had to run a long way to get to number 2 and 9 they were over the other side.
the first group back from Waikanae was Marcus Dean and Jasmine and second place was Vlad and Charlie but it was so close so they called it a tie.this is charlies perspective.
orienteering was so fun we say it was a tie because we worked together.then it started we all started at different times but when we started what a rush to all the clickers in full speed.then finally the last clicker number 16 next we all ran to the finish the two teams were so close that they called it a tie then we sat there and waited for the bus just amazed that we won.
thank you for reading this report on orienteering hope you liked it .

Orienteering By Aidan C
On Wednesday many year 5 and 6's from Waikanae school and Kapunui school went to Waikanae park to participate in orienteering. Aidan C and Dylan B are from Waikanae school. They are best Friends and have known each other since they were 3. They were buddy's for the orienteering. When the people were explaining Dylan and Aidan were at the back. So they didn't hear much. In fact they found out what to do when they found a group of people. It was to find all of the 19 clippers (clippers are basically thing that poke 9 holes in paper). But they didn't bother use the map provided. They just randomly rand around dodging the horse poo (Aidan once stepped in some. YUCK!) and clipping the paper. They once got split up twice! But luckily they found each other. One time Dylan found another clip. in the end Aidan found 17 clips and Dylan found 18.
