Welcome to this Room 11 blog. Our learning philosophy is to LEARN, CREATE an artifact that shows our learning, and then SHARE it in creative ways, including posting it here on this blog. The purpose of this blog is for students to become accustomed to sharing their learning, recieving feedback, and preparing them for having their very own blog. While students will make every effort to have work corrected and error free it is in fact authentic student work, showing where students are at, and so there are likely to be some mistakes. The aim is to note progress and improvement, and we expect to see this over time.

locked doors

Rendered Image
i think teachers cant lock doors because the new class room will be inside so if kids need to go pee pee they  cant go and they will wet them self and  if  they need a drink than they will have to go to the drinking fountains  but there disgusting and if the. class rooms are locked than they cant get a drink and they might need to put there lunch box away or put hang there coat up.

locked door's

   Locked doors
Hi, I’m Sam and schools are amazing and made for kids to learn but some fantastic teachers lock doors and I think they should not lock the doors. Do you think they should lock doors?

Firstly, are fantastic teacher’s should not lock doors  because if they need a drink they can't get one, and they don’t like the water fountains you can’t get a drink. You wouldn't want that to happen would you?

Secondly, what about if a child get’s sick and they can’t get their belongings. they would need them for tomorrow and they would have no food and no drink. You wouldn't want that to happen would you?

Thirdly, You could still have your lunch and you wouldn't be able to put it back. That means you would have to carry it around. You wouldn't want that to happen would you?

Therefore fabulas teachers should not lock door’s always all this stuff will happen, so don’t lock door’s.

shaking floor

I stood in horror as the floor started shaking my little sister screamed and I dragged her under the table. It seemed to take ages for the shaking to stop! That was a big one I said as we climbed out.

In This Issue - Earthquakes, absences, winter tournament, homework & photos

Last week was one of the most unusual ones I have experienced for quite some time.  I was off sick for a couple of days, having a very sore throat over the weekend.  However I wasn’t the only one, and as the week progressed the numbers of children in the school rapidly decreased.   On Wednesday the school had over 60 pupils away, and on Thursday over 80 with many others needing to go home during the day.  On Friday our normal class of 26 was down to 12.   Today we still only have 18 children, so it may be a day or two before we are all back to full strength.
But that wasn’t the end of the disruptions to our week, as there was the earthquake.  The children realized what was happening before I did.  We all followed our “Drop, cover, hold”, got under our desks and acted like turtles. We then evacuated the classroom in case of aftershocks, and headed to the top field for a head count, quick when most of the class is absent.
It seems fortuitous that we did our Natural Disasters unit last term and it adds some practical understanding, experience, and increased relevance to what we learnt.

Classroom Move
Every day I am asked “Is today the day for the big shift?
We are very fortunate to be moving classroom from our current prefab, probably later this week.  Our new classroom that we will be shifting into is Room 6.  The actual building work is completed and it looks GREAT!
We are waiting for the finishing touches such as the new ultra short-throw projector, and sound system.  Room 12 and 13 will be moving into the other two refurbished rooms.

I am hoping that we will still have access to the old classrooms for any “messy” activities we do. :-)

We are learning to correct our written work.  Children were given a short paragraph to correct.  Here is the original text and you can compare it to see how well they did.  You will find your child's version in the comments section.

rippa rugby tournament

rippa rugby tournament

On Tuesday  the waikanae  kids were given the permission to chose a sport to do. The options were Netball, Hockey ,Soccer and Rippa Rugby. Drenna and Jasmine chose Rippa Rugby. The children that chose Rippa Rugby got there at  11:30 i think.

All the teams got to play three games  against three different schools, the games were coached by a colleague person. Also the games had to be fear and a good sportsmanship.

The first game that the red team played was a game that they versed paraparaumu and we wasted them and after the game we had our lunch and we went to field 2 and it was a rough start but we still won.

On the second game it was pretty close but we lost by a last second try it was not that good but we still did pretty good. Jasmine scored like once in that game same with drenna. “It was great fun said Drenna and Jasmine” “I still wish we won but it was fun” said Drenna.

The last game was really fun we won but it was also a fear game so that is fantastic and the end after my conclusion

Thankyou to all that have listened or read this story. hopefully you liked it thank you .

12th of august 2013 11.30 to 2.30

HI i’m Sam and i have a buddy here called Dylan and we are going to tell you about when we went to winter tournament.

When me and Dylan went to winter tournament we went by bus with the netballers and did rippa and we got into the same team with william are other friend. The other members in our team were Darren, Vlad, Broke and Riley. Vlad was our coach and Tracy Williams mum was our leader. We lost the 1st tied the 2nd and lost the 3rd. When we were play the 1st and 3rd are refs Cameron and Dylan were being bad refs and when they pushed us out they said out and then we pushed them out and they said penalty. On the 2nd game we had a different ref so that's how we tied that game.

In the game i scored 2 tries and Dylan scored none because he didn't get the ball much. On the last game that we lost Vlad passed to Darren then he scored and then Vlad passed to Darren again and he scored and that kept on happening. After the 2nd game we had and after the 3rd we had lunch. When we got back it was close to home time.

Thank you for mine and Dylan's about are winter tournament rippa rugby story.
